Views on Individual Rights

“The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground.” by Thomas Jefferson

I would normally end an article with a quote from Jefferson as it pertains to the story, but this quote is the story.

This natural progress Jefferson speaks too is so obvious and pervasive in this country that any citizens, no matter what their party affiliation may or may not be, recognizes the steady consistent growth of this intrusion into every aspect of their lives. Adding to the individual citizens plight, the media, having been granted specific rights and obligations under constitution and whose job it is to inform and make us aware of such things, use their power instead to focus our attention on tiny slices of the big picture, never showing us on the forest, only the trees.

Every day a new law is enacted that increases governmental powers while reducing individual rights.

The argument that certain things should fall under federal law while others argue those things should be under state jurisdiction seem to miss the point entirely. All things pertaining to local, state or federal jurisdiction are inherently the rights of the individual and fall under the citizens jurisdiction. Those same citizens that sit back and watch the show, unknowingly, or should I say unwittingly, allowing by complacency this to continue. The big-business media conglomerates keep our minds occupied by reporting on current politically staged issues so that the average citizen never has the chance to see or think about the whole picture.

I find myself depressed whenever I allow myself to think of this.

It is such a game for the political parties and big businesses to control our thoughts and keep us so occupied with the little slices served-up to us daily by their partners in crime, the corporate controlled news outlets. Those in charge realize that if they can just keep us busy, bombarding us with so much of the little crap that we wont see the huge pile of dung that is piling up. The depressing part is that one-day, we the citizens of this great country will realize that big government, corporate greed and the conglomerate media have effectively smothered us with so much crap that our rights have been completely eliminated beyond recourse.

So the big questions are, what can we as citizens do about this and when are we going to do it? I wish I could answer these questions.

My guess is we are not going to do anything until it is too late.

We are going to continue to sit back and watch this country turn into a multinational, corporate-run, government subsidized, media controlled world that even George Orwell could not have conceived in his wildest dreams.

I do know this, if we do not wake up soon and put a stop to all this crap being shoved down our throats, the end will be sooner than we think. I speak of the crap that allows the powers-that-be to control our lives and take away our individual rights without us even realizing it.

What we need is a ground swell of citizens that do not fall for the pretext of political platforms, corporate ideology or media bias, and stand-up, united together for one purpose. That purpose must be centered on the complete undeniable reinstatement of individual citizen rights.

We must demand the return of control over our individual lives and that of our government.
