Views on Immigration

We do not need a long drawn-out process to reform our immigration laws.

There are those in this government that do not understand that Americans everywhere support fair and legal immigration?

This is all about illegal immigration and to confuse the issue by suggesting we need to reform our current immigration laws runs contrary to what Americans believe. Why should we change the rules that have governed immigration for all these years?

After all, the majority of Americans understand that immigration is one of the important factors that this great country of ours was founded on. We can all trace our roots back to our relatives and ancestors who came to this country as immigrants. What the American people are completely against is the proliferation of those illegal immigrants that have come to this country. Pretty damn simple to understand.

Overtly thwarting our laws and then expecting at some point to be welcomed with open arms. Yes, we are a nation of immigrants, legal immigrants, but we are also a nation of laws! Never, in the history of this country has any immigrant, regardless of nationality, been allowed to enter this country illegally. Those that did make it, made it by obeying our laws and customs and going through the proper legal processes of immigration.

Those that have attempted to come here illegally are arrested and deported. Why should these laws be ignored now? The immigration laws currently on the books just need to be enforced. Why should these illegal immigrants be treated any differently than our ancestors would have been treated?

None of the illegal immigrants that have come to this country did it by accident, it was done purposefully with the intention of gaming the system, gaining access to our economy, taking jobs away from legal residents and then hoping that at some point they would somehow be allowed to stay. They do not pay taxes because they do not have legal status. Is there any precedent in our laws for this kind of activity to be allowed?

I believe the governments of Mexico and other countries have helped to perpetrate this illegal activity by encouraging their citizens to take this gamble. Therefore, when you see these unfortunate people that are now being torn from their families and sent home, you need to place the blame on those governments that sent them.

I agree that we probably do need to devise some lawful and speedy process for those illegal immigrants being deported to be allowed to return to their families quickly and effectively once they have been processed into this country legally, but to allow them to stay is impossible and, as I said before, the American people will not stand for it.

Imagine if you can, that the Iranian government or any other government for that matter, somehow devised a way to secretly smuggle millions of their people into this country. Would we allow them to stay? No. Would we say, it is okay that you have broken our laws because there are millions of you already here so we might as well allow you stay? No.

For those in favor of adopting some measure that would give blanket amnesty to illegal immigrants” you need to wake up, the American People will not stand for it. If the immigration laws were good enough for our ancestors and all those that came before, then they will have to be good enough for all those that want to come in the future. No, we will not allow you to force yourself upon us no matter how many millions of you there are.

There are those within this government that favor a blanket amnesty, that have sunk so low they paint Americans as racist or bigots. They say we do not want these illegal immigrants here because they do not speak our language or because they are different. These tactics will not work. The American people do not want illegal immigrants here for one reason and one reason only, because they have intentionally broken our laws, on purpose, with malice and forethought.

There is not one illegal in this country that did not know at the time they were sneaking in, that if and when they were caught, they would be deported. They took the chance of breaking our laws and now they will have to pay the price. Yes, America is a nation founded on immigration, but we are also a nation founded on the rule of law. Unless you follow our laws you will not be allowed to come into this country.

The fact that illegal immigrants intentionally broke our laws by coming here illegally says a lot about their character to start with. Do not say that we need to change the current immigration laws, speak the truth. We simply need to enforce them. If we fail to do this how many more will exploit this weakness?
