The reporter tries to put a nice “spin” on the story. I guess he forgot to mention that these new numbers are additional jobs lost. Not good news for those people who already find themselves competing in a jobless market.
Half way through the story he mentions the total unemployment figures of 6.18 million. This would be bad enough in a normal economy but when you factor in that there are no jobs available for

Much has been said about all the things that seem to be going wrong with this country.
If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them (around the banks), will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.” by Thomas

A man has shot at police and members of the public in a subway station in Mexico City, killing two people and injuring at least five.
The gunman was writing on the walls of Balderas station when a police officer confronted him, Attorney General Miguel Angel Mancera said. The man shot the officer and a civilian who tried to stop him, then ran to a subway train where he kept firing until other police

From: The Firearm Blog
New developments in the field of infantry weapons are beginning to focus on compact weapons, which are able to deliver bursting munitions. The use of bursting munitions reduces the need for extremely accurate systems to increase P/H. In most cases bursting munitions need only be delivered in the immediate vicinity of a target to neutralise it. Pretty sweet. I like the idea that you can change firing position, from right

From: Police Mag, Â No mention that it was stolen out of an FBI Agents car;
The FBI’s Indianapolis office has posted a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest in the theft of weapons and equipment from a vehicle parked in a residential neighborhood in the northwest section of that city.
During the evening hours of Sept. 16 and morning hours of Sept. 17, thieves broke into 10 additional vehicles or residences

Two things about CNN, Fox News, NBC, etc., that really disturb me.
Okay, I have to stick this in first because it is just great…
First, the way they repeat, repeat and repeat the same old news every hour. Every anchor that comes on rehashes the same old crap with 5-second snippets and even shorter video clips slanted to their perspective or political affiliation. They try to put so much in each half-hour

Has this thing turned into a nightmare or what?
From uninformed people screaming at town hall meetings saying your going to kill their grandmother to the politicians trying to make both their lobbyist and their constituents happy. Wow, and we wonder why nothing ever gets done.
I recently was reading about this in a blog paged on the American Catholic website ( not that I am a big fan) but the arguments made were

One year ago today we watched the beginning of this economic meltdown. I went to bed that night wondering if my debit card would still work in the morning. I had no idea at that time that one year later I would be unemployed with little to no chance of locating a job.
Truck driving as a profession has changed form in many ways over the past year. Those that are still working as

I used the video below to demonstrate how the parties “use” their constituants for their own reasons. Demonstrations organized by a few to change the viewpoints of many.
Voting for elections is primarily influenced by the “independent” voter, but once the elections are over those same independent voters voices are not represented in Congress or House of Representatives.
Is it time to have a three party government?
Shouldn’t the bulk of Americans who

I found this video to be based on truthful facts.
There is so much truth in this video about how we are programmed as children to accept what we are told on television, it really scares me. I remember my parents complaining about this when I was young. As we grow older we don’t think about it because the “brainwashing” was already done when we were children.
Every child in grade school should see

In 1962 Arthur Okun spoke of this law, which says that when the economy grows it produces jobs at a predictable rate, and when it shrinks it sheds them at a similarly regular pace. The hiccup is that we are losing jobs much faster than the economy is slowing. The question is why?
I was reading an article about jobless people and how it is going to be that way for a

Sweetness and Light
Not to beat my brothers drum for him but I must say, his blog, Sweetness and Light, covers current relative topics that are always a good read. Although I do not support most of what is said but it is always good to get other viewpoints. Myself, I am somewhere in the middle, with most of my personal views reflected in both the conservative and liberal camps. I wonder what it is like

As I sit here watching the ceremonies both, on both Fox and CNN, I find myself reliving the terror, anger and empathy I felt that day. I was headed to Atlantic Trailer in Savage, MD to drop off a container, listening to the news thinking what a beautiful day it was. The radio channel I was listening too had just said it was a slow news day, not much going on.

Somehow I can relate…, takes some of the humor out of it.
The story: Following on the success of the Wall Street Meltdown parodies, I wrote Mad Avenue Blues. Like Wall Street Meltdown and WSM Redux (both on YouTube), the new video takes a popular song and substitutes industry-specific lyrics. Only instead of finance, Mad Avenue Blues is about the media/advertising world and the impact to the traditional models brought about by the

This is as-good-as-any read on the “reported” unemployment situation although it doesn’t efficiently cover the numbers of the ”real” unemployment problem.
There exist a large number of folks that seem to have simply fallen through the cracks. Many “jobless” people do not receive unemployment for one reason or another and therefore aren’t represented in the stated unemployment figures.Â
The Department of Labor’s actual statistics show the “real” numbers to far exceed the number who

This is what I was talking about in my other post about unemployment. The real rate of 16.5% represents serious depressionary times. To cover this up with distorted numbers is obscene and should be illegal. Let people know the truth about what is really happening in this so called ”recession’.  BTW, I am still looking for work…
