Are you successful?

Most of us want to be successful. And, we want the material and emotional benefits that come with it. That’s all well and good, and I hope it happens for us, because there’s nothing wrong with it. But success, just for the sake of being successful does…

Article From The Patriot Post – Barackracy, Part 1

Yet another great article from The Patriot Post. I was prophesying this years ago and it is sad that it is coming true. We pulled ourselves out of the world economy now have to drag ourselves back in.  Of course I know this is not Obama’s doing, this is everyones doing. Labor unions mostly.

As a centrist, this sort of blame Obama for everything just rolls off my back. However we got in the situation we

Some of the great and not so great things that happened on July 5th.

Spam, the luncheon meat, is introduced into the market by the Hormel Foods Corporation.

Russian Spies…, infiltrated Facebook! What next?

In surprising world news, the FBI recently arrested 10 alleged Russian Spies this week (+1 in Cypress, though he got away — maybe you shouldn’t have given an international spy bail?).

Yes that’s right, Russian spies.

Reportedly, these individuals had been living in the United States for years, some since the Clinton Administration. These long-term “sleeper agents” were well-trained, and had great cover stories including multi-million dollar real-estate firms and financial planning jobs. The only thing they apparently lacked

Australian Politics. History in the making…

Thursday, 24 June 2010 will be remembered in Australian political history as the day a woman became Prime Minister.

*Editors note: I believe Americans can relate to this story because of the great similarities between Australia and our country.

Most Australians went to bed the night before unaware that history was in the making.  Later it might possibly be argued that even those who were aware of the rumblings in Canberra were not prepared

Flag Day: A simple observance of an important occasion

Regardless of whether there is a parade in your town or even a flagpole in your yard, you can still observe Flag Day. All that is needed is to face a flying US flag, even if it is one you can not see directly (nearest Post office, school, American Legion post, or Elks Lodge) , remove any head covering, put your right hand over your heart, and recite the following:

“I pledge allegiance to

Liberty: A Perspective Apart and Fourth of July Memoir

Nearly no Americans today truly understand the term “liberty“. Indeed, only a comparative handful of people can give an accurate “Webster’s” definition without looking it up. Though, up until some two hundred forty years ago, every literate American with a quill was writing his own treatise in order to bring the term greater definition and acknowledgment.  Then, after British troops under the direct command of Captain Preston massacred five civilians at Boston Commons, the

By: Yobie Benjamin

Just when you thought the damages BP could cause was limited to beaches, marshes, oceans, people’s livelihoods, birds and marine life, there’s more.

BP’s favorite dispersant Corexit 9500 is being sprayed at the oil gusher on the ocean floor. Corexit is also being air sprayed across hundreds of

Australian’s Search for Abby Sunderland Draws Criticism

This article was sent to me from Australia by Kelly Quinn. It shows how, although we may be on the other side of the world, our two countries have much in common.

Frustration…

Rescue Mission Ignites Anger

By: Kelly Quinn

Late last year, Australian newspaper forums were flooded by people wanting to express their fears and negativity regarding 16-year-old Jessica Watson’s solo round-the-world voyage. Today, our newspaper forums are again flooded with such sentiments – this

Photos Of The Oil Spill Disaster, 2010

The catastrophic explosion that caused an oil spill from a BP offshore drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico reached the shoreline early Friday morning. The leak is releasing well over 5,000 barrels of oil per day (some estimates are over 50,000 barrels a day). Efforts to manage the spill with controlled burning, chemical dispersal and plugging the leak were unsuccessful. This oil spill will shortly become the worst oil spill in history, surpassing

ONLINE GAMBLING: Government wants their cut of the profits…

Possible legislation would impose levies on Internet gaming operators and others. Let me see, now that states are in financial trouble the “big evils on society” are suddenly acceptable. I always thought levies was just another word for taxes.

Las Vegas News
By STEVE TETREAULT
STEPHENS WASHINGTON BUREAU

WASHINGTON — Some members of Congress are hoping that the promise of up to $72 billion in new revenue might persuade federal lawmakers and cash-strapped states to allow for online poker and other Internet gambling to be regulated and taxed. But despite the lure of big money, there is still little consensus whether to legalize online gaming in the United States, if a hearing Wednesday by an influential House committee is any measure.

I think I recognize some of those people! Jeff is that you?

IMHO – States do not want internet gambling because it would interfere with their own state-run gambling concesions, reducing the huge profits they currently receive running Keno and other state run operations. At least with poker your skill comes into play, not relying on luck as much as you do when you “scratch-off” one of the many losing tickets offered-up by the state.

The Real Tudor Story…

I find this interesting, probably since I never watched the show..

From Wikipedia,

Catherine of Aragon (Spanish: Catalina de Aragny Castilla, 16 December 1485 - 7 January 1536

Catherine was born at the Archbishop’s Palace in Alcalá de Henares near Madrid, on the night of 16 December 1485. She was the youngest surviving child of King Ferdinand II of Aragon and Queen Isabella I of Castile. Catherine was quite short in stature with long golden auburn hair, wide blue eyes, a round face, and a fair complexion.

At an early age, she was considered a suitable wife for Arthur, Prince of Wales, eldest son of Henry VII of England and heir to the throne, due to her overwhelmingly prominent English ancestry inherited from her mother Queen Isabella I of Castile.

May 19, 1499 “ Catherine of Aragon, is married by proxy to Arthur Tudor, Prince of Wales. Catherine is 13 and Arthur is 12.

The couple later met on 4 November at Dogmersfield in Hampshire. Little is known about their first impressions of each other, but Arthur did write to his parents-in-law that he would be ‘a true and loving husband’ and told his parents that he was immensely happy to ‘behold the face of his lovely bride’. They found that they were unable to speak to each other since they had learned different pronunciations of Latin.  Ten days later, on 14 November 1501, they were married at St. Paul’s Cathedral.

Once married, Arthur was sent to Ludlow Castle on the borders of Wales, to preside over the Council of Wales and the Marches, as was his duty as Prince of Wales, and his bride accompanied him. The couple stayed in Castle Lodge, Ludlow A few months later, they both became ill, possibly with the sweating sickness which was sweeping the area. He died on 2 April 1502, and she almost died too, but recovered to find herself a widow.

At this point, Henry VII faced the challenge of avoiding returning her dowry to her father.

Maryland’s “New” Medical Marijuana Law

Current: Marijuana Laws In Maryland

For medical purposes:

Maryland does not have protections from arrest for medical marijuana users as in other states where MPP has successfully lobbied. Nonetheless, there is a limited affirmative defense for patients who are arrested for marijuana possession. Under this defense, “if the court finds that the person used or possessed marijuana because of medical necessity,” the maximum punishment is a $100 fine. Of course, this means that, in addition to an unjust fine, patients are still subject to arrest, criminal convictions, attorneys’ fees, and humiliation, in addition to possible collateral consequences like discrimination in housing and employment.

For non-medical purposes:

Possession of any amount of marijuana ”even as little as a single gram” can land you in jail for up to a year, in addition to a fine of up to $1,000. In addition to wasting millions of dollars every year to lock up nonviolent offenders, Maryland’s harsh marijuana laws are enforced in a manner that can only be described as troubling. The arrest rate for African-American’s in Maryland is almost 20% higher than the national average, and over three times that of whites in the state.

Proposed: New Marijuana Law For Maryland

Marijuana won landslide bi-partisan approval in the Senate 35-12,

The new legislation proposes that the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene administer the state’s medical marijuana program, including the licensing of patients, caregivers, large-scale growers, and distributors.

Extremely hot video of Christina Augilera featuring extreem content. Now being debated, art or porn, you decide. Based on comments this video might be pulled off the site but for now I am interested in what you think.

Do you believe it is necessary for women to exhibit extreme behavior to be popular today?

Music City Trying To Get Back To Normal

Another catostrophic disaster.

Could it be this nation is destined to be torn in half? Between the extreme flooding of the Mississippi, the Red River, Cumberland River and others, it seems the central flood plains of this nation are trying to tell us something. At some point these rivers will not allow themselves to be contained and those living in these areas will be required to move to higher ground.

How many billions have
